Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) & Human Security Programme
Col Bashir has long experience in DRR, disaster response and recovery both at home and abroad. He has actively participated in consecutive last 4 Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange (DREE) and also worked as Facilitator at NDRCC of MoDMR.
He obtained excellent result in SSC and HSC with the subject of Geography and Environment from Faujderhat Cadet College. Thereafter, he was commissioned from Bangladesh Military Academy in May 1985 and at the same time awarded BSc Degree from the University of Chittagong. Subsequently he completed Master of Defense Studies from National University and Master of Science from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). Recently he has also obtained Master of Disaster and Human Security Management degree from BUP and awarded VC’s Gold Medal for topping the program. His thesis topic was “Detecting Hazards Due to Industrial Effluents and Impacts on Environment and Human Security.” The study area was Gazipur City. Worth to mention, it was also presented in ICCCAD. At present Col Bashir is pursuing for a PhD Degree on “Changing Climate Variability and Impacts on Environment and Human Security-Bangladesh Perspective.” He is a Keen Golfer and an Active Member of Kurmitola Golf Club, Dhaka.
