Visiting Researcher
Douwe van Schie is a visiting researcher from The Netherlands. He is currently in the last stages of an M.Sc. in Environment and Resource Management at The Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In 2020, he founded an NGO facilitating climate-focused online volunteering opportunities, later he got involved with multiple initiatives surrounding Loss and Damage, which now has his complete focus. Currently, Douwe is part of a working collaboration between the IIED and ICCCAD, researching how coastal communities in Southwest Bangladesh are coping with non-economic losses and damages from climate change, emphasizing the importance of gender equality within loss and damage research.
