Fatema Akhter

Research Officer

Fatema Akhter works at the International Center for Climate Change and Development as a Research Officer (ICCCAD). She was involved in research projects with Save the Children Australia, Water Aid, German Redcross and Cambridge Global Challenges Program. Some of her current research interests are climate change, gender equality & loss and damage, locally-led adaptation, and nature-based solutions. She has authored multiple articles in Climate tribune.

Before joining ICCCAD, She worked as a programme officer at EIMS, where she worked on UNICEF, World Bank, and government-funded projects. She graduated from the University of Dhaka with a Master’s degree in Disaster Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology. In addition to her research, Fatema used to work with the United Nations Youth and Students Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB). She has participated in MUN debates and a variety of youth-related activities. She is also a South Asia Rainwater Network (SARNET) member. Her newfound passion is infographic designing. In addition, she enjoys travelling and learning about new cultures and societies.
