Research Officer

Mahjabeen, working as a Research Officer at ICCCAD is a passionate Urban Planner and Climate Enthusiast. She possesses an excellent work ethics, robust interpersonal skill, a strong desire to succeed and a ‘Keep calm and Carry on’ attitude towards stressful situations. On a personal level, she is a self-motivated individual, who tries to work well under own initiative and is also someone who understands the bigger picture of a scenario.
She has completed her Bachelors in Urban and Regional Planning from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). After graduation, she worked on ‘Urban Area Strategy and Flood Risk Management Strategy’ project of Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100 at BUET and later joined as a researcher in Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER), BRAC University. Her interest in studying about climate change kept escalating and in the entire country, it is only Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), which offers a graduate level degree in Climate Change and Development, jointly with ICCCAD. So, she has decided to join this program and the School of Environmental Science and Management (SESM) had given her full tuition waivers for obtaining highest academic excellence in every semester. Her master’s dissertation is concentrated on ‘Role of Faecal Sludge Management to Reach Bangladesh’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC)’.

She takes ardent interest on Urban and regional planning, Human-environment interactions, Natural resource management, Climate change adaptation, and hopes to collaborate the impacts of climate change with urban planning for marching towards a climate resilient sustainable Bangladesh. Apart from all these, Mahjabeen loves novels, music, football and travelling to different countries.
