Sarah Johnson

Sarah Johnson is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Administration in Development Practice (MPA-DP ) at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University in New York. Sarah is undertaking a 12 week internship as a Graduate Research Intern for the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI), part of The Earth Institute at Columbia University, and is working on a project called “Adapting Agriculture to Climate Today, for Tomorrow” (or ACToday).

The goal of ACToday is to understand the impact of climate variability on food systems, increase the production and availability of climate information, and improve the use of such information in decision making related to food security and nutrition in six countries around the world, one of which is Bangladesh. Sarah will be co-affiliated with ICCCAD and WorldFish over the summer of 2018 and is working with a number of other partner organizations in Bangladesh.

Sarah is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has 11 years’ experience working for a large accounting firm in the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and United States of America. Sarah is particularly interested in the applicability of financial instruments such as index insurance, index-based disaster risk management, and loss and damage mechanisms, as well as the environmental impact of the ongoing Rohingya refugee crisis.
