Sk. Adhiraj Rahman Shair

Research Officer

Environmental considerations do not get much attention in the big multimillion-dollar project discussions and my fear is, Bangladesh soon may experience the tragedy of commons. Early symptoms of that is already evident – clean air, potable water, water bodies, wetlands, forests, wildlife, and marine life are declining at an alarming rate at the expense of the development activities. Along with my past experiences, from Urban and Regional Planning Bachelors in BUET, and with the things I will learn in the upcoming years, as a Research Officer in ICCCAD and also from my Masters Degree, I hope to showcase to my society that both development activities and environmental sustainability can be achieved together while paying attentions to every material and immaterial element in our ecosystem. Hence, carrying out research work related to the environment and then influencing the implementation pathway to go in the right direction is the one I have chosen.

On the side note, I also enjoy playing games and the guitar, watching House M.D., and working as an IELTS instructor at Mentors’ Education.
