Sherpard Zivigadza

Sherpard Zvigadza has 14 years of CSOs capacity building, and policy advocacy coordination at local, regional and International levels. He has graduated in Information Science and Public Relations in 1996. He also holds a BSC in Geography and Environmental Studies in 2005 at Zimbabwe Open University as well as Special Honours in Geographical Bio-Geo Sciences in 2016 at the University of Zimbabwe. Sherpard is currently studying for MSc in Climate Change and Development at Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB) and is being hosted as a Visiting researcher by the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD at IUB) in Bangladesh. He is the first international Student in the CCD and coordinates the 2018-19 Msc CCD batch.

At ICCCAD, among other contributions, he is working on Climate Finance and specifically GCF as well as researching on Loss and Damage. He has vast experience in Climate Change, Renewable Energy Advocacy, Awareness and Implementation and research emanating from engagements with several international Organisations. Sherpard also has passion on Climate Change Adaptation, Agro-Meteorology, Renewable Energy. Other passions include videography, photography, writing and meeting new people and places.


Fatema Sharmin Sonia

Fatema Sharmin Sonia has around 8 years experience to work as an architect with different local and international organization in Bangladesh. She was involved with green factory design with some international LEED consultants. Moreover she worked with UN HABITAT as an national consultant and community architect in land tenure and housing component of UPPR (Urban Partnership for Poverty Reduction) project to improve the housing condition of urban poor community in Chittagong and Comilla region. During her worked period she has honored with “Perween Rahman Fellowship-2014” from ACHR (Asian Coalition for Housing Rights) for working climate resilient housing in Chittagong.
Presently she is working at Sirajganj with IMC Worldwide which is a renowned engineering consultant of UK, as a community architect for “Low Income Community Housing Support Project” owned by National Housing Authority and funded by World bank.
She has attended at several training, workshop and seminar at Bangladesh, arranged by national and international organization. She is also a member of IAB ( Institute of Architects Bangladesh) and CAN( Community Architects Network).
Recently she has enrolled herself in M.Sc program on Climate Change and Development to enrich her professional knowledge with climate science and contribute in housing works for climate vulnerable people to build a climate smart living environment.


S. M. TANVEER AHMAD

S. M. Tanveer Ahmad was born in September 04, 1993 and raised in a traditional household in Bangladesh.
Ahmad completed his Secondary School (S.S.C.) from Comilla Zilla School (CZS) and Higher Secondary (H.S.C.) from Dhaka City College (DCC) both in Science background.
In 2016 he completed his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree from Sahajalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Forestry. During his Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) life he worked as a Data Collector in Baseline Study of Community Based Sustainable Management of Tanguar Haor Project, Tahirpur, Sunamgonj, Bangladesh with International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) at 2012. He was a Research Intern at Society for Health Extension and Development (SHED) in Inani Protected Forest Area Co-management Project, Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh in the year of 2015.
In 2016 he joined SwapnoBangla Group as a Project Manager at Sylhet.
He is doing his Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree from Independent University, Bangladesh in Climate Change and Development in 2018-2019 session.


Md. Maksudul Amin

Md. Maksudul Amin, have been working for last 12 years in the field of environmental management, climate change and water supply & sanitation in Bangladesh. He is bit sound in environmental assessment, environmental mitigation measures, effective management of water resource & sanitation and climate change particularly in adaptation. He have enlighted through the following organization BCAS, NGO Forum, Plan International, German Red Cross and PKSF in my career. Action Against Hunger is my present working places. He have graduated from Shahjalal Univerisity of Science & Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh from Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He have also completed post-graduation in Development Studies from East West University, Dhaka, Bangladesh.


Rezaul Karim

Md Rezaul Karim is working closely with the H.S.B.C Bangladesh operation services team for last 4.5 years where he has immensely contributed by introducing various streamlining process such as PDC warehousing systems in Bangladesh and HSBC clearing charge automation.
At present he is working on BacH II implementation for HSBC as superintended by the central bank of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Bank.
Graduated with a Bachelor degree and doubled majored in Finance & Marketing from the North South University he immensely trained himself in the Banking sector of Bangladesh; whereas he has matured himself as a Corporate Banker. Apart from his studies, he has also dedicated himself in different club volunteering exercise which also replicated during his professional life; as he has also volunteered in HSBC Prothom-Alo Bhasa Protijog, HSBC-IBA Business Case Competition, HSBC-British Council Play, Learn, Act Project and many more. After achieving MSc degree in Climate Change and Development from the Independent University, Bangladesh he wants to establish himself as a climate finance expert. He is particularly interested in working to promote securities through implementing the blockchain technologies in Green Climate finance transaction between the right stakeholders that they can access the funds between the financing institutes to legitimate authorities.


Md. Fahad Hossain

Fahad currently works as a research officer at ICCCAD. Prior to that he worked as the research assistant of an environmental lawyer. He also did an internship with International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT). He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. His areas of research interest include climate change adaptation, mitigation and climate finance, with a particular focus on policies. Currently, he is studying in an MSc in Climate Change and Development programme at IUB.
He loves to paint landscapes in acrylic and oil, and takes an interest in history and psychology.


Engr. Md. Saiful Islam

Saiful Islam is a graduate in Civil and Environmental Engineer and also completed a Certificate in Programme on Environmental Management & Governance. He already served more than twelves years’ in National and International Development Organization in relation to project development, management and implementation for the Programme of shelter, WASH, and Environmental Management, disaster management and climate change issues in coastal, haor, hilly area, Char, drought areas in Bangladesh.

Saiful is currently studying for a Master of Science in Climate Change and Development at Independent University, Bangladesh.


Nishat N. Hamid

Nishat’s educational background is in Chemical Engineering and Mathematics, followed by a Masters in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She embarked her corporate finance profession in New York from 2006 where she was a consultant as well as internal auditor at Deloitte & Touche LLP. Prior to working in the Big4 accounting firm, I was in Quality Control at United Bio chemicals Inc, New York. Upon her return to Bangladesh in 2009, she worked as a corporate banker at Citibank, N.A Dhaka and Citibank Dubai till 2016.

Nishat has been working as a Director at Shasha Denims Ltd since 2016 and her company has been specializing in various sustainable denim products. Having been always interested in sustainability and its crucial impact in our everyday lives, she decided to further her knowledge in this sector by enrolling in the MSc program on Climate Change and Development at IUB. She intends to use this education to understand efficient ways to address the climate change issues and find how the fashion industry can play a role in influencing the Climate Change scenario in Bangladesh.


Dr. Farid Uddin

Farid started his career in a national NGO Proshika as Agricultural Programme organizer in 1987 having worked with different organizations like NGO, Research Institute, GO, multinational company and international organization in different for 24 years. He participated in different professional training, workshops, seminars and conferences in Thailand, China, India, Philippines, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Bangladesh organized by Government of Bangladesh (GOB), DANIDA, FAO, EU, and OICI.

Farid joined the Cotton Development board as Senior Training officer, and worked in FAO-EU regional project and FAO in Kyrgyzstan as FAO international Expert and Facilitator in Bangladesh. Presently is the Executive Director of Cotton Development Board. However, having Studied Philosophy at Doctoral level, he has taken an interest in Climate change. Farid is now studying for a Master of Science in Climate Change and development.


HUMPHREY BWALYA

Humphrey Bwalya has 12 years’ experience as a secondary and high school teacher specialized in teaching Environmental Sciences, Biology and Chemistry. He graduated with a secondary School Science Teaching Diploma in 2005 at (COSETCO) now Mukuba University. In pursuit for excellence, Humphrey further studied for a Bachelor’s degree in Science of Education in the school of natural sciences, for four years with Kwame Nkrumah university and graduated in 2015.

In keeping up with global challenges and wanting to be part of the solutions, Humphrey is currently studying for a Master of Science degree in Climate Change and Development with the Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB).


Asfia Munzera

Asfia Munzera is an IUB graduate majoring in Human Resource Management with a minor in Environmental Management. She is currently working as the Administrative In-charge of Junior Section of Mastermind English Medium School, Dhaka (Uttara Campus) and has been serving there since September 2015. She also did an internship in the HR Department of Bank Asia Ltd. (Head Office) in the year 2014.
Asfia’s particular interest in environmental science and its related areas has inspired her in enrolling in the M.Sc. Program on Climate Change and Development at IUB. She intends to use this knowledge to better understand the adversity of the changing climate and its impacts on us and our surroundings. She wants to help create awareness from the base level as she is directly working with the students/children of the age group 5 to 10 years and aims at building a climate smart future generation. She believes, taking small steps can go a long way.
Besides nature and environment, she is enthusiastic about adventure, travelling, leisure reading, listening to music and photography.
