Capacity Building on Understanding the Political, Technical and Financial Arms of Loss and Damage

The workshop’s primary aim is to provide participants with a thorough comprehension of the political, technical, and financial dimensions of Loss & Damage, fostering a shared commitment to implementing impactful measures in response to the impacts of climate change. Followings are the objective of the workshop:

  • • Equip participants with in-depth knowledge of the political landscape surrounding Loss & Damage, including international mechanism (WIM) and policy frameworks related to climate change impacts.
  • • Foster a technical understanding by delving into the scientific aspects of climate-related losses and damages, ensuring participants grasp the nuances of assessment, monitoring, and response mechanisms.
  • • Explore the financial dimensions of Loss & Damage, including funding mechanisms, to empower participants with the tools needed for sustainable and effective financial planning.

Target Participants

Primarily for individuals (researchers, young negotiators, practitioners, university faculties etc.) working on Loss and Damage at national and international levels and who wish to follow on a regular basis what is happening on loss and damage in the UNFCCC process.

Expected Outcomes

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • • Identify the emerging political, financial, and technical trends within the L&D agenda,
  • • Apply gained knowledge and insights to contribute meaningfully to L&D discussions and initiatives
  • • Discuss potential approaches for addressing L&D issues at the local, national, and global levels.
