Capacity Building Workshop on Responses to Address Loss and Damage

Objectives

  • • Equip participants with a deep understanding of the concepts of loss and damage due to climate change, including both immediate and long-term effects on communities, economies, and ecosystems.
  • • Provide detailed insights into recent policy developments, global & local responses and funds established to address loss and damage, such as those initiated at COP 27 and COP 28. This includes understanding the operational aspects and how they can be accessed and utilized.
  • • Empower participants to take on leadership roles in the field of loss and damage, focusing on ethical decision-making, team management, and driving change within their organizations and communities.

 

Expected Outcomes

  • • Enhanced Knowledge and Skills: Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the complex nature of loss and damage related to climate change, alongside acquiring advanced skills in policy advocacy and strategic action planning. This will enable them to effectively navigate and contribute to the field.
  • • Actionable Strategies for Implementation: Attendees will leave with actionable strategies tailored to address loss and damage within their own contexts and potential approaches for addressing L&D issues at the local, national, and global levels.
